This week’s challenge set for the e-learning heroes community is to share an example of how 3d models can be used in eLearning. Pretty cool, right? However, keep in mind that this is not VR learning by any means. Just a simple trick that you can use to level up your projects.

The trick and the .story file

David, a great guy who’s the community’s manager, was kind enough to provide us with a few samples. A sample that I had already come across was this by Tom Kuhlmann. Tom used PowerPoint to create a guide on exploring NASA’s Mars Rover.

Therefore since I am not into space, I decided to use Tom’s tutorial and create a guide that explores Microsoft’s XBOX Controller. Instead of PowerPoint, I went the Storyline way. But I did use PowerPoint for a specific reason. The reason was to extract the  3d version of the XBOX’s wireless controller and create the rotating effect.

Voila!

For your convenience and experimentation, I am sharing the .story file. You can download it here
